Fans of Netflix’s original series Sex Education can now show their love for the show through a newly launched official merchandise.
Showcased at Case Study Atelier in Bonifacio High Street in BGC last February 5 to 11, the pop art themed collection features t-shirts, tote bags, pouches, and sweater with prints and graphics lifted from the show’s popular characters and dialogues.
Images and texts such as ‘fierce’, ’complex female characters’, and ’I don’t do boyfriends,’ as well as Moordale Secondary sweaters and more are among the many exciting pieces.
During the line’s launch last February 5, guests had the chance to listen to a very informative sex, sexuality, relationships, and identity talk by Rica Cruz. She is a licensed Psychologist, Sex and Relationships Therapist, and a Sex Educator at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Echoing Sex Education‘s advocacy to encourage viewers, especially the youth, to get educated about sex–from its health aspects down to psychological matters–this new fashion and accessories line hopes to inspire young people to not be afraid to ask questions and learn what they can about the subject.
Cop these newly released products at The Rail in Glorietta 2, Trinoma, Robinsons Manila, UP Town, Festival Mall, and Alabang Town Center. Prices range from P699 to P1,599.
Season 2 of Sex Education is also available now on Netflix.
Japanese global apparel retailer Uniqlo is giving us a headstart for the summer with the launch of its latest collaboration with French designer Ines De La Fressange. The 2020 Spring/Summer collaboration line is now available at the Uniqlo Flagship Store in Glorietta 5 and through UNIQLO.com, with select pieces also in other branches nationwide.
The 54-piece collection is a throwback to 1924, a high time for iconic French chic fashion. In keeping with a motif of luxurious clothes and beyond, this range of wardrobe essentials brings together Ines’ belief in designing clothes that all women can wear with comfort to reveal their beauty. Add to that, the LifeWear philosophy of providing innovative, high-quality clothing that is universal in design and comfort, and meets the needs of daily lifestyles.
Ines began exploring ideas for the 2020 SS collection by celebrating traditional values through styling that is enduringly contemporary. The line, which pays homage to women from every era, comprises the following three themes.
Paris: Timeless sports styling
Paris hosted the Summer Olympics in 1924, and sports styling that appeared in those games remains attractively modern even today. The collection features items with masculine looks, including Tilden knitwear and jersey pants with white and green key colors.
Gardians: Inspired by French cowboy clothing
Items are inspired by the clothing of ‘Gardians,’ French for cowboys, in Arles. Ines has frequently visited this city in the Provence region of southern France over the past 30 years. The strong sunlight and shadow contrasts in that locale influenced such leading artists as Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh, and are reflected in the collection’s coordination of black and white items in masculine styling, including pants and long shirts.
Muses: Dresses for relaxing outdoors
The 1920s were a time of great progress for women, who began enjoying styling that reflected newfound freedoms. The range features light dresses with ruffles and prints in relaxing silhouettes.
Prices of items in the collection range from P1,990 to P4,990 for outerwear, P1,990 to P2,990 for pants, P1,490 to P3,990 for skirts, and P1,490 to P1,990 for shirts. Cut and sew pieces also range from P790 to P1,990, while knits are from P990 to P2,490. Dresses are at P1,990 to P2,490, and other goods and accessories come at P990 to P1,490.

There is no denying that the local fashion scene is flourishing on a global landscape. We’ve got world-renowned designers dressing up Hollywood stars on the red carpets, blockbuster movies, and royal weddings.
Each year, the College of Saint Benilde’s Fashion Design and Merchandising program graduating class stages Sinulid, a captivating show of creativity and out-of-the-box fashion trends shimmying down the runway.
With over 50 participating student designers, the result was an enthralling show of romantic and nostalgic themes that ranged from sartorial glamour to casual elegance.
This year, Sinulid teamed up with Xiaomi, the youngest company on the Global 500 fortune list this year, to showcase emerging talents who are not afraid to push the imaginary boundaries of fashion.
“We’re happy to be part of Sinulid, an event that showcases the creativity of students from the College of St. Benilde on how they can make an impact on the growing Philippine fashion industry. Similar to the students, we at Xiaomi believe in being creative, being innovative, so that we can deliver a positive change in the community,” says Mark Li, country manager of Xiaomi Philippines.
“Xiaomi relentlessly builds amazing products with honest prices to let everyone in the world enjoy a better life through innovative technology,” he adds.
As co-presenter of Sinulid 2019, Xiaomi captured the edgy OOTDs and runway looks of the guests and participants with its cutting-edge smartphone, the Mi 9T.
With its triple rear camera and pop-up selfie camera, plus its fulfilled promise of a true full-screen experience, the Mi9T was the perfect accessory. And with its 4000 MAH battery capacity and tough hardware, the Mi9T provided hours and hours of uninterrupted camera use for the hundreds of IG-worthy shots to be had during Sinulid.
The Mi9T is available at P15,990 for 6GB+64GB, and P17,990 for 6GB+128GB. It comes in Carbon Black, Flame Red, and Glacier Blue and is available at Xiaomi’s official store on Lazada and at Mi Authorized Stores.
If you consider yourself a horology enthusiast with a heart for the environment, then Swiss watch brand Oris may just be perfect for you to express your style and advocacy.
This July, the brand introduced its newest products: the Oris Aquis Date Relief and the Oris Ocean Trilogy, along with its latest efforts to help save the world’s oceans.
Oris Aquis Date Relief
A high-performance diver’s watch, the Oris Aquis Date Relief is inspired by the color and feeling of water. The grey dial reminds you of the color of a stormy sea, while the watch’s signature diving scale numerals in relief are a reminder of the texture of water and its elemental role in all life.
Cast in a 43.5 mm (1.713 inches) stainless steel case with uni-directional rotating diver’s bezel, the watch is water-resistant up to 300 meters. It comes with a choice of straps or a metal bracelet, and it’s sapphire crystal sits over a dial decorated with applied hour markers filled with luminescent Super-LumiNova. The hour and minute hands are luminescent as well.
Its Swiss Made automatic mechanical movement provides it with a red central seconds hand and a date, seen through a window at 6 o’clock.
Being at the forefront of innovative watch design since 1904, Oris has also been leading the campaign to protect and conserve the world’s oceans. The brand has teamed up with expedition swimmer and water ambassador Ernst Bromeis, who is onto his 2019 The Blue Miracle project, which will see him swim across a number of lakes, including Lake Baikal, the worlds largest freshwater lake, to raise awareness of the world’s water.
Oris Ocean Trilogy
Oris’ collection of limited edition watches is helping clean, protect, and restore the world’s oceans once box at a time.
The limited-edition Ocean Trilogy is made up of three aqua blue-faced watches that come in a box made out of PET plastic bottles retrieved from the oceans. The watches are named Clean Ocean, Great Barrier Reef, and Blue Whale after Oris’ various ocean-saving projects.
The Oris Clean Ocean Limited Edition marks a partnership with Pacific Garbage Screening, which is working on a concept to capture plastic waste in rivers and estuaries before it reaches the ocean, and turns it into energy using a floating platform. The watch is a 39.5mm time and date version of the stainless steel Aquis. It has a gradient aqua blue dial, a unidirectional rotating bezel, and a medallion made of recycled PET plastic set into the case back.
Meanwhile, through the Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III, Oris supports the Reef Restoration Foundation, a non-profit that replants corals that survived bleaching events down in the southern seas. It has a 43.5mm stainless steel case, a gradient aqua blue dial, a unidirectional rotating bezel, and a circular date window with a coral yellow indicator.
Finally, one of Oris’ latest endeavors is represented in the Blue Whale Limited Edition, which supports the charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation aimed at protecting the giant of the deep. It is the first Aquis chronograph with a 3, 6, and 9 dial layout. It features a multi-piece stainless steel case, unidirectional rotating bezel with aqua blue ceramic insert, and hands and indices printed with luminescent Super-LumiNova.
All three watches are limited only to 2,000 pieces all over the world.
July is Denim Month, and there’s no better way to celebrate this classic fashion staple than with Levi’s. As the inventor of jeans, Levi’s makes it their duty to evolve their clothing while remaining timeless.
Denim Month is the perfect time to show and share the love for denim in more ways than one.
The iconic Denim celebration is from July 19 to August 18. Shoppers are encouraged to trade in a pair (or two) of your old jeans of any brand for a 25% discount on your same-day purchase of Levi’s jeans.
Every pair collected will help birth several awesome denim string bags for donation to Silid Aralan. This one small act can help make a difference with both the planet and the Filipino youth.
Shoppers can also get three free customization services with a minimum purchase of P3,500 at the Levi’s Tailor Shop pop-ups.
Levi’s also stands out in the industry for its care for the planet.
The recent awareness of the negative environmental effects of fast fashion has put Levi’s into action to create jeans that are both waterless and wasteless.
Designers have found an inventive way to produce jeans with minimal water usage and with the use of recycled plastic bottles. This is clothing that will certainly stand the test of time.
Find out more about Levi’s and its sustainable efforts (plus, some cool denim trivia, too!) by following @Levis.philippines on Facebook and @levis_ph on Instagram.
There is more to sustainability than just changing the way we consume resources like energy and food. It can also be applied to how we produce and consume fashion.
Earlier this July, mallgoers at SM Megamall had the rare opportunity to learn about sustainable fashion through the Fashion Revolution Exhibit at the Mega Fashion Hall. This joint project of the Embassy of Sweden in Manila and SM Supermalls featured products from Swedish brands currently leading the global movement toward a more sustainable fashion industry.
Fast-fashion label H&M (short for Hennes & Mauritz) showcased a variety of garments made with sustainably sourced fabrics. Among them are Orange Fiber and Piñatex, which come from citrus-juice byproducts and pineapple leaf fiber, respectively.
There were also dresses made from organic linen, organic silk, recycled polyester, and Tencel, a cellulosic fiber produced from sustainable wood pulp. Finally, a pair of slippers made with Bloom Foam, a plant-based flexible foam that uses algae biomass from freshwater sources.
Also on display were outerwear from Houdini and bags from Fjallraven that were manufactured using organic materials, and adorable Baby Bjorn baby carriers that were made from recycled PET bottles.
The items displayed show how much companies can do to be more earth-friendly without losing functionality and style.
Filipino artist and designer Patis Tesoro, who is also known for her upcycling advocacy, showcased three textile art pieces made of various fabrics sewn together to create beautiful and intricate
tapestries. Her take on the Malong Landap highlights the Maranao culture and Islamic architecture, while the delicate abaca pieces were salvaged from flooding in Aklan.
Catch the Fashion Revolution Exhibit at S Maison in Pasay City on July 26-August 2.
